Former Cleveland Browns and Oakland Raiders head coach Hue Jackson still believes he has what it takes to return to the NFL as a head coach, Charlotte radio station WFNZ reported Wednesday. hotfuns
Jackson, 53, first became a head coach with the Raiders in 2011, going 8-8 before getting another chance with the Browns in 2016, where he went 3-36-1, 1-15 and 0-16 in his first two seasons before being fired after going 2-5-1 midway through his third season. He was then brought in by old teammate Marvin Lewis, who was the head coach of the Cincinnati Bengals, as a special advisor, but Lewis was fired after last season and Jackson was let go.
“Oh yeah, I mean I think I can do it,” Jackson said of returning to head coaching. “I mean just because the situation in Cleveland (didn’t work out) doesn’t mean you can’t coach. There’s been some great coaches before me who’ve coached there and gone on to do great things. Sometimes the circumstances are different. I think if people really thought about it and took the time to look at the overall situation there, they might understand it a little bit more.”
“At the same time, I understand what’s been explained, that’s what everybody knows. Hopefully people will think back to the time I was in that position, I must have done the right thing if I had to go back again, whether it’s coordinating coach or head coach. I believe in my future, I still have to go through the process and see where it ends,” Jackson said with hope. ( hotfuns )
