Athletic Bilbes midfielder Ander Herrera has condemned some Roma fans who threw flares at him after Thursday’s Europa League game, according to Cadena Cope.
Herrera, a 35-year-old midfielder who came on as a substitute in the 60th minute, spoke of his frustration with the behaviour of the Roma fans after Thursday’s Europa League game, while Athletic Bilbao released a statement condemning the actions.
‘We felt weird because we played a good game, but everything was tarnished by what we saw. I understand that in stressful times you show negativity in the form of insults, but I never thought throwing a flare that can kill someone would make you feel cold because there’s no explanation.’
‘The fireworks are good when celebrating in La Cabara, they give a beautiful colour, but when you get in the hands of someone who throws them at the head, you have to cut them off. The person who throws the fireworks, you know it can hit someone in the head and you can kill them. What happens if you kill a child or someone, there is no explanation,’ Herrera said. ( hotfuns )
