(Personally, I really like the trickery of the editing in the last act of the film and feel that it is fresh for a Thai film. I don’t feel that it is difficult to understand. However, there are some opinions from the premiere that say that it is difficult to understand and not friendly to the general audience. I would regret it if the film lacks this charming trickery and I don’t agree that it should please the audience to that extent. However, this is just my opinion.)
Let’s review the story of the film again. The film stars Ter Chantavit Dhanasevi as Police Lieutenant Dan, a police detective nicknamed “Dan of a Hundred Corpses” who is given the chance to restore his reputation in exchange for returning to work in Bangkok. But this mission may mean walking into hell when he has to hunt down Tab Ta Fai, the leader of a perverted gang who escaped from prison and disappeared into the forest of “Halabala”.
That forest is a forbidden land where no one dares to enter because there is a legend about the “Bato”, an ancient cannibal tribe that has been forgotten. But perhaps, that tribe has never gone anywhere, but is still hiding in that forest. In the end, Dan must choose between his duty and the life of Wi, his pregnant wife who is afraid of her new home in the middle of that forest. And it may not be just the two of them living there because something is watching and it is ready to devour them.
