The local boy from Villefontaine, a suburb of Lyon, entered the dorm life at the age of 13 when the OL academy wanted him to eat and sleep at the training center so he could take care of both football and studies to the fullest.  ( wilson88 )

That was the first catalyst that made Gusto have to be stronger in his heart because he was away from home, away from his family for the first time. And it had to be even stronger when he moved from Lyon to the big camp, Chelsea. 

“The sacrifices we made as children were worth it,” he said through his official website. 

“Playing for Chelsea, playing professional football at a high level, to get to this point you have to make a lot of sacrifices. At the time, I didn’t understand it, but as I got older I realized how important it was.” 

“Because sometimes you can’t see your family, sometimes you have to train harder or take more classes.”

“I never asked myself if I was good enough to be a professional footballer. I never had any doubts.” 

“I have no idea in my head what else I want to do in life because I know my passion is football. I just keep my head down and play football as best I can and then see what happens.” 

The 21- year- old has been a mainstay for head coach Enzo Maresca, starting the first three league games but has only missed the win over Bournemouth with a muscle injury.
