According to Screen Daily , “Red Envelope Ghost” has already been purchased for release in the Philippines, with a release date set for April 9; Myanmar on April 17; Cambodia on April 10; Singapore on April 24; and Indonesia, Hong Kong, and Macau, with release dates yet to be announced. The film is a remake of the Taiwanese hit “ Marry My Dead Body ” into a Thai version, and stars Billkin Putthipong Assaratanakul and PP Krit Amnuaydechkorn for the first time on the big screen after both became audience favorites in the series “My Ambulance” and “I Told Sunset About You”.
The story is about a police officer who is forced to marry a gay ghost after picking up a red envelope containing the deceased’s hair and nails. He must help find the person who killed him in order to help his spirit be free from worries and be reborn.
GDH is currently meeting with European and North American buyers at Filmmart to discuss further details.
The film is produced by Tong Banjong Pisanthanakun of Pee Mak and The Medium, and directed by Chayanop Boonprakob of May Nai Fai Rang Fero and Friend Zone. Moo Chayanop also co-wrote the script with Wave Thammasatit Charoenritchai, who previously wrote the short film about a Chinese family, Qinglang de Tiankong, Ter Chantavit Dhanasevi (Pee Mak) and Waewawan Hongwiwat (You and Me and Me).
