Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott has confirmed his support for new head coach Brian Schottenheimer, who will take over from Mike McCarthy, NFL Network reports.

“I mean, Shorty means a lot to me,” Prescott said. “He’s a consistent guy, and I think that’s part of what got him this job during the time he’s been here. So anybody that shows you the character traits that go with what they do is going to be a support for me. Everything that’s happened to me the last three years, whether it’s on the field or off the field, I’ve gotten texts or check-ins about it.”
‘Yeah, I just want to support him, one, be proud of him, proud to take advantage of this opportunity and two, I know the direction he’s going to take, I want to show him that I’m going to be here with you and for you, not just what? He signed a four-year contract? I’ve got four years left, he’s directly tied to my future, so let’s be the best we can be in these four years.’
Schottenheimer moved up from analytics coach in 2022 to become the Cowboys’ offensive coordinator for 2023-24 before becoming the new head coach after McCarthy, so he will be able to continue working closely with Prescott.

Obviously, they’ve had a lot of success with this group, with this group of guys, and knowing that’s important to me, and Shorty has been a big part of that, setting the game plan and creating the game plan. ‘
