Further reports from ‘The Athletic NBA’ say that Sugg fell to the ground after hitting the floor hard while attempting to steal the ball from an opponent. ( gameintr88 )

The 23-year-old was in severe pain and is scheduled for further diagnostics this Saturday (local), head coach Jamahl Moseley said after the game at Scotia Bank Arena. 

Before he went down, Suggs had six points, made two of seven field goals in 13 minutes, and rookie Tristan da Silva came on to put in the team’s best performance with 25 points.

Goka Bittadze, the center, scored a double-double with 11 points, 13 rebounds and 7 assists. 

He is the latest in a long line of top players, following Paulo Banchero and Franz Wagner, who previously suffered side-body muscle injuries. 

Reserve center Mo Wagner is out with anterior cruciate ligament surgery, while Anthony Black (back) and Gary Harris (hamstring) are out. 

Suggs is averaging a career-best 16.8 points this season, plus 4.2 rebounds, 3.8 assists, 1.5 steals and 1 block. 

The former No. 5 overall pick in the 2021 draft was just named to the All – Defense Second Team last season.
