The 17-year-old has agreed a deal to join the Blues from Palmeiras for an initial fee of £29m, which could rise to £50m, and will officially join the club in the summer of 2025 when he turns 18.
However, Gallas believes that the high transfer fee does not mean that the player does not need time to adapt, and he wants his former team to consider this and not expect too much.
“Chelsea paid £50m for Estevao Willian because he’s Brazilian, the value has doubled for some reason!” Gallas told Lord Ping.
“His problem may be that sometimes clubs think players can adapt to a new league straight away, but that’s not the case.”
“There are many obstacles, language, lifestyle, even the weather – when you come to England it’s not easy, so you have to think about buying new players as well.” ( vox888 )
“Just because you pay them a big lump sum doesn’t mean they don’t need time to adjust.”
