Real Betis sporting director Manuel Fajardo has revealed Nabil Fekir’s move to United Arab Emirates side Al Jazira was a win-win situation for all parties, ahead of Betis’ move for Tottenham midfielder Giovani Lo Celso, Marca reported on Monday.  ( vox888 )

Fekir joined Real Betis from Lyon in the summer of 2019 before the 31-year-old midfielder decided to join Al Jazira in the close season, which came as a surprise to Betis fans, but Fajardo insists it was a good move for all parties involved. 

‘In the last days of the transfer window, Nabil’s representatives made us an offer. After talking to him, he also showed us that his cycle with Betis was coming to an end. All parties thought the best thing to do was to accept the offer and let Nabil leave,’ said Fajardo.

Real Betis have also brought Lo Celso back to the team again. It has been reported that the Betis team has a special condition with Tottenham Hotspur that has the opportunity to sign Johnny Cardozo in the summer of 2025 for a fee of around 25-30 million euros, but Fajardo did not confirm the matter clearly.

‘He has a big role to play in his future. Leaving next summer? It depends on Tottenham and what other offers come in at that time,’ Fajardo said.

Betico’s sporting director also spoke about the attempt to sign 28-year-old Real Madrid midfielder Daniel Ceballos, saying: ‘He was a real option at the end of the market. Today, Dani has a contract with Real Madrid and we wish him well, but hopefully in the future we can give everything to bring him home. ‘
