New York Giants wide receiver Darius Slayton is expected to attract interest from teams looking to add speed to their offense as the 28-year-old is set to hit free agency on March 12, according to the New York Daily News.  cup1688

“When you look at it, my ability to stretch the field becomes more valuable because that shortens the drives, the touchdowns from one play, you have to make plays to score in this league,” Slayton said. “We know there’s a lot of interest, and when the free-agent market opens up, we’re going to have a lot of conversations with a lot of people.” 

The 28-year-old winger also spoke about his goal of ending up on a team that is trying to compete and has a winning mindset. ‘Of course, winning and being in an advantageous position are probably the two things that are really important for me right now.’

‘Obviously, five of the six years I’ve been with the Giants, we haven’t competed. We haven’t made the playoffs. We haven’t even come close to making the playoffs.’

‘And one thing I’ve learned in my career is you play with guys who have the attitude of, ‘If I go out and get paid, I’ll sleep well at night,’ and I’ve learned throughout my career that I really want to go out and get paid, but losing every week takes a toll on me. I can’t accept that. It’s like not having the money to make me go home and feel like I’d be happier in a Hellcat than a Camry, but my soul, I can’t accept that. ‘ 

‘This group of free agents is very special, and fortunately for me, I’m in a specific position with my skills and where I’m at in my career, which makes me a pretty valuable player right now compared to other players.’ ( cup1688 )
