Pagano, 58, who took over as the Bears’ defensive coordinator on Jan. 11, replacing Vic Fangio, who left to become the head coach of the Denver Broncos, has said he has no interest in returning to the NFL as a head coach and is focused solely on helping Matt Nagy succeed.
‘I’m not doing it anymore, I’ve done it,’ Pagano says of interest in returning to the NFL as head coach
“I’m just motivated to help coach Matt Nagy succeed, to help this organization succeed, to help these kids grow and develop. That’s what motivates me to do the best I can for this organization, for the McCaskey family, for Coach Nagy, for the players, to coach and help develop these guys. That’s all I want to do.”
Pagano was the Colts head coach from 2012-17. He led Indy to two AFC South titles (2013 and 2014) and led Indianapolis to three consecutive playoff appearances (2012-14). He was fired after going 53-43 in the regular season and 3-3 in the postseason. ( cup1688 )
