In a statement on Twitter @Buccaneers , Smith, who started six games last season, said he will not be involved in any organization activities, including training camp, preseason, and the regular season. He will be able to return to the team after Sept. 30, when the team faces the LA Rams. cup1688
“We are very disappointed in Ryan’s absence for the first four games of the new season. Throughout the organization’s efforts to educate players on the importance of respecting league policies, each player must take personal responsibility and not be overwhelmed,” Buccaneers general manager Jason Liket said in a statement.
Over the past two seasons, Smith has started 16 of 31 games, making 99 tackles and one interception. ( cup1688 )
