The former fourth-round pick in the 2017 draft, he spent the first four years of his career with the Cincinnati Bengals before moving to the New York Jets on a three-year, $45 million deal, before becoming a free agent this offseason and ending up with the Cowboys.
Lawson suffered a torn Achilles tendon during training camp and missed the entire 2021 season. He returned for the 2022 season, recording seven sacks, but he only played in six games and 98 snaps, with just five tackles and no sacks.
The Cowboys are looking to fill in for Micah Parsons and DeMarcus Lawrence after Sam Williams suffered a knee injury in training camp and will miss the entire 2024 season, with Phillips and Lawson both likely to be added as additional options.
