Chelsea Football Club website announced the signing of 19-year-old left-back Wiley on a six-year deal until 2030, with the option of a further year that could see the deal run until 2031.

Wiley made the step up to Atlanta’s first team in the 2022 season, finishing his first season with 26 appearances in all competitions, then made his mark in 2023, making 36 appearances and scoring four goals, and has played 23 games this season.

The 19-year-old left-back made his senior debut for the United States in October 2023 and has since made two appearances, and is now part of the squad for the 2024 Olympics in Paris, France.

Chelsea have already spent big under new head coach Enzo Maresca, bringing in Omari Kellyman (£19m), Tosin Adarabioyo (free), Marc Guehiu (£5.2m), Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall (£30m) and Renato Vega (£11.8m). ( wintime999  )
