According to Fabrizio Romano, a famous transfer guru, Calafiori, who can play as a centre-back, left stopper and left-back, was initially pursued by the Gunners and Chelsea.

But recently, the Blues have completed the signing of left-back Renato Veiga, so there is no need to compete for the Italian player anymore.  ( sunlit1688 )

Opening the way for Arsenal to sell the project through the player’s agent, the 22-year-old defender is also excited and ready to coordinate with head coach Mikel Arteta, accepting a salary after tax of 4 million euros per year (about 3.4 million pounds / 71,000 pounds per week) on a 5-year contract. 

Next up is sporting director Edu Gaspar, who is reportedly negotiating a bid of around €50m (£42.4m) for the Rossoblu.

The reason why Bologna wanted to sell at a high price first was because they made a condition with Basel, the player’s former club, that they would receive a share of the next sale as high as 40% from the purchase price of only 4 million euros in the summer of 2023.
