Spanish outlet Relevo reported on Friday that Espanyol are looking at 24-year-old Mallorca reserve goalkeeper Leo Roman as a replacement for Joan Garcia, who is likely to leave the club this summer.
Joan Garcia, the 23-year-old goalkeeper, is set to leave Espanyol this summer amid interest from Real Madrid and Arsenal, so the Parrots are in the market for a new keeper and have their sights set on Mallorca’s back-up goalkeeper Leo Roman, who is also likely to leave the islanders at the end of the season.
Leo Roman is Dominic Greve’s back-up and has made just six La Liga appearances this season. The 24-year-old impressed, making 12 saves in Tuesday’s 1-0 defeat to Barcelona.
The 24-year-old has made it clear he is unhappy with his current situation with the Islanders, saying: ‘I didn’t get enough chances. Today I saw that my situation was not what it should be. I don’t speak for my team-mates, but for the management of the club.’
bully168 Leo Roman is currently under contract until the summer of 2026 and has a €10m release clause, and as well as being a target for Espanyol, the 24-year-old goalkeeper is also being considered by Valencia, who are looking for a replacement for Georgi Mamardashvili. ( bully168 )
