There had been interest from Bundesliga clubs in the past, but the German side were not prepared to meet Liverpool’s asking price. Brentford, on the other hand, acted swiftly and completed a deal with the Reds.
Van den Berg was unveiled as the Bees’ new signing on Thursday, with a statement confirming the player has signed a contract until mid-2029.
Although there are no clear details on the fee, British media reported that Brentford paid Liverpool a guaranteed £25m, plus a £5m performance bonus and a 17.5 per cent share of any future transfer fee.
He is another Liverpool player who has moved to The Bees after the club recently signed Fabio Carvalho
