Head coach Joe Mazzalla, who recently led the Celtics to their 18th NBA championship, led players, executives and the team’s ownership group to meet with Biden in the Oval Office.
The tradition of NBA champions meeting the president dates back to 1963, when Boston head coach Bill Russell met then-President John F. Kennedy.
“The Celtics aren’t just a basketball team, they’re a way of life,” the 46th president said as he received jerseys from Jayson Tatum and Derrick White.
