The Los Angeles Chargers have confirmed the release of 29-year-old defensive end Joey Bosa after nine seasons with the Lightning since entering the league as the third overall pick in the 2016 draft, NFL Network reported. betflikth99
Releasing five-time Pro Bowl wideout Bosa will save the Chargers $26.36 million in cap space, and the 29-year-old’s release comes a week before he is due to receive a $12.36 million roster bonus.
Bosa has struggled with injuries over the past three seasons, appearing in just 28 games (18 starts) due to back, groin and foot injuries, which was a big reason why the Chargers decided to let the 29-year-old leave the team to free up some salary cap space.
Now, Bosa is set to move on to his next role behind Khalil Mack as the Chargers head into free agency with $91 million in salary-cap space to spend.
According to a report from NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Bosa could join his brother Nick on the San Francisco 49ers. ( betflikth99 )
