Bellingham’s injury means the England midfielder will miss at least seven games – six in La Liga against Real Valladolid, Las Palmas, Real Betis, Real Sociedad, Espanyol and Alaves – as well as the first leg of their Champions League group stage campaign.
Bellingham is reportedly targeting a return to action in the Madrid derby at the Civitas Metropolitano against Atletico Madrid on September 28 or 29, or at home to Villarreal on October 5 or 6 at the latest.
Bellingham’s injury will open up more opportunities for Luka Modric, Daniel Ceballos, Arda Guler and Brahim Diaz until the England midfielder recovers, with Eduardo Camavinga also out for five to six weeks with a knee injury.
