Chicago Bears president Kevin Warren said the Bears remain focused on the city’s lakefront as the location for their nearly $5 billion stadium development project, NFL Network reported.
Warren held a press conference at a London hotel ahead of the Bears’ game against the Jacksonville Jaguars at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday, discussing plans to build a new stadium on the city’s lakeside to replace their current home, Soldier Field, and is seeking state funding to help make the project happen.
“The Museum Campus is amazing, especially against the backdrop of Chicago and its architecture,” Warren said. “That’s still a focus for us now.”
The project would cost $3.2 billion to build a new stadium and another $1.5 billion for infrastructure, which could include a state-owned hotel.
“The situation is we continue to make progress. We are still focused on getting the site in place and starting construction in 2025,” Warren said. “We have regular meetings with key business leaders and politicians, focusing on and moving in the right direction.”
‘This is a long journey. This is going to take time. I’ve been there before. We’re where I think we’re going to be now.’
