The Chicago Bears have agreed to trade 25-year-old quarterback Justin Fields to the Pittsburgh Steelers in exchange for a 2025 sixth-round draft pick. This could become a 4th round draft pick later in the same year, according to a report from NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. ( doohee )
‘We have been involved in several trading discussions over the past few weeks. “We believe trading Justin at this time to Pittsburgh is the best thing for both Justin and the Bears,” Bears general manager Ryan Poles said in a statement. ‘We spoke to Justin today to inform him of the trade and our rationale behind it as a club. We would like to thank him for his tireless dedication. leadership and everything he has given to our franchise and community over the past three years, and we wish him all the best in his NFL career.’
Fields, the 11th overall pick in the 2021 class, completed a career-best 61.4 percent of his throws for 2,562 yards, 16 touchdowns and nine interceptions in 13 starts in 2023. Still carried the ball and ran 124 times for 657 yards and 4 scores, after having his best performance in the 2022 season by carrying the ball 160 times for 1,143 yards and 8 touchdowns.
During his three-year career in Chicago, Fields posted a 10-28 record as a starter, throwing for 6,674 yards, 40 touchdowns and 30 interceptions. Carrying the ball, they rushed for a combined 2,220 yards and scored 14 runs.
The agreement to trade Fields to the Steelers is a sign that the Bears will select Caleb Williams as their 2024 draft pick sometime in April.
