The Oakland Raiders and San Francisco 49ers are set to battle it out to sign Trumaine Johnson, one of the top cornerbacks in the free-agent market that begins March 14.  baconclub66

Johnson is set to become a free agent after the Los Angeles Rams agreed to trade Marcus Peters, one of the NFL’s top wide receivers, from the Kansas City Chiefs to replace Johnson, with the 29-year-old cornerback being linked to two Bay Area teams, the Raiders and 49ers.

Rams head coach Sean McVay revealed during a scouting combine this week that the team was trying to re-sign Johnson after the 29-year-old cornerback played under the franchise tag for the past two seasons, but the Rams reportedly agreed to trade Peters from the Chiefs to replace Johnson as well.

Both the Raiders and 49ers are interested in signing Johnson, but if the Raiders miss out on the 29-year-old wide receiver, they still have a backup target in Philadelphia Eagles cornerback Patrick Robinson, who starred in the last Super Bowl. ( baconclub66 )
