baconclub66 The Cleveland Browns are open to Travis Hunter playing both wide receiver and cornerback if they take the No. 2 pick on Thursday.
Cleveland Browns general manager Andrew Barry has confirmed he will not limit Travis Hunter’s role if he decides to select Colorado wide receiver/cornerback with the No. 2 overall pick later this month, NFL Network reports. baconclub66
“It’s a little bit like (Shohei) Ohtani (Japanese baseball player for the L.A. Dodgers),” Barry said of Hunter. “You know he plays one side and he’s a dominant player. If he plays as a pitcher or a hitter, he’s a dominant player. Obviously, you get a unicorn if you play him on both sides.”
Barry stressed that Hunter is a wide receiver and then cornerback, but he doesn’t want to limit the Colorado rookie’s ability to play on both sides of the field.
“I think one thing you can’t fully understand until you see Travis play live is how physical he is,” Barry said. “Playing in Colorado, he was almost off the field. It’s incredible because there’s more play in the college game than in the pros.”
‘But still, what he’s trying to do doesn’t happen in our league, but we’re not going to dictate or control what he can do. We want to be smart in terms of where we start him. I think I’ve said before that we’re going to see his first home at wide receiver and his second home at cornerback.
However, Barry revealed they had not yet made a decision on what to do with the No. 2 pick on Thursday, despite reporters trying to ask about Hunter. ( baconclub66 )
