Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti has stressed the importance of Tuesday’s Champions League trip to Atalanta as a must-win game for Los Blancos to at least secure a place in the play-offs, according to Diario AS. 

Real Madrid, the defending champions, have had a poor start to the season, collecting only 6 points from their first 5 games and are currently in 24th place, with the Los Blancos needing points to travel to Bergamo.  

‘There’s nothing more important than three important points to help us qualify,’ Ancelotti said. ‘It’s a shame we have to play extra time, but that’s what it is. I’m very confident in my team.’

‘Everything is better now. We are in a good dynamic now and will continue to improve as we go forward. Tomorrow’s game will be the toughest game from now until the end of the year.’

‘We were concerned about how to find a good game plan to beat a strong opponent like Atalanta, but nothing more than that.’

Atalanta currently lead Serie A and have won their last nine games in all competitions. 

‘Atalanta are doing very well, they have improved a lot since the Super Cup, they are in good form and full of energy, but that gives us the opportunity to go out there and prove ourselves while getting three important points.’

‘They are a great team, a great club, they did a great job, even though they lost a lot of players in the summer. They always find a way to adapt, that says a lot about who they are,’ Ancelotti said. ( 123over )
