The agents of Athletic Bilbao forward Nico Williams, Felix Tianta and Juan Hoyaga, told Cadena Ser on Thursday that the 22-year-old’s decision to stay with the Basque club was a personal one. 

Nico has been linked with a move to Barcelona throughout the summer, with the player’s agent reportedly pushing for a move, before the 22-year-old decided to extend his stay at Athletic Bilbao for another season.

‘The boy had an incredible year and he supported me by being the best player in the European Championship. Logically, we had a lot of transfers, a lot of travel and a lot of happiness, it was compressed into a short period of time and when the summer window ended we were quite stressed. ‘
