123overr The New York Jets traded Devontae Adams from the Las Vegas Raiders to play alongside young wide receiver Garrett Wilson.

New York Jets acting head coach Jeff Ulbrich sees the pairing of Devontae Adams and Garrett Wilson as similar to the legendary duo of Jerry Rice and Terrell Owens that blossomed with the San Francisco 49ers, NFL Network reports. 123overr

The Jets completed a deal to trade Adams from the Las Vegas Raiders, adding another weapon to quarterback Aaron Rodgers’ roster in addition to Wilson, Mike Williams and Allen Lazard, and Ulbrich sees the Adams-Wilson pairing as on par with the legendary Rice-Owens duo. 

“I think the best thing is I was fortunate enough in San Francisco to be around Terrell Owens and Jerry Rice and see for myself how Jerry taught Rice,” said Ulbrich, who played linebacker with the 49ers from 2000-09.

‘Jerry was 18 at the time, but he had the experience and the understanding of the game at the highest level. I think Devontae is going to give Garrett and all of our wide receivers the same. He’s been doing that at the highest level for a long time. And you’re going to see that reflection in Aaron, the long-term working relationship that they’ve had. So it’s an exciting time to be a Jet like that. ‘ 

Adams remains a top-notch weapon, averaging four straight seasons with 1,100+ yards receiving. The 31-year-old wide receiver’s ability to beat the line and stay ready for the quarterback’s catch will also lend his experience to third-year wide receiver Wilson.  ( 123overr )
