123overr Green Bay Packers rookie punter Brayden Narveson has the full backing of the Packers’ head coach.

Green Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur is so confident in rookie wide receiver Brayden Narveson that he has signed a contract extension with the team ahead of Friday’s season opener against the Philadelphia Eagles in Sao Paulo, NFL Network reports.  123overr

LaFleur had Anders Karlsson and Greg Joseph competing this offseason for the starting kicker job, but the Packers head coach ultimately chose neither. 

Carlson underperformed as a rookie last year, unable to convince the coaching staff to give him the job, and Joseph was cut from the team before Narveson was brought in to fill the role after the undrafted rookie kicker was released by the Tennessee Titans.

“I mean, yeah, I’ve seen enough to be confident in him,” LaFleur said of Narveson. “So if you’re asking me if I’m confident in him, I am. I know Rich (Bizaccia), Byron (Store) and Kyle (Wilbur), as well as our scouting department, who’ve loved him since he graduated.”

‘He was on their shortlist of people they wanted to work with, and when he was available, he saw what he could do, so we brought him in.’ 

For his part, Narveson said he was excited to get the opportunity with the Packers, saying, “I’ve been prepared. I’ve had opportunities in games. I’ve done in games.”

‘That gave me the opportunity to come here and I’m very happy. I’m excited to be here and I’m going to keep trying to do better because I don’t want to stop here and I don’t feel like I’m here yet.’ ( 123overr )
