The Houston Texans are set to hire San Francisco 49ers coordinator Bobby Slovic as new offensive coordinator for new head coach Demico Ryans, NFL Network reported Sunday. ( 123over )
The Texans brought in Ryans from the 49ers as their new head coach, then hired former Arizona Cardinals defensive line coach Matt Burke as their defensive coordinator on Friday. Houston is set to name Slovic as its new offensive coordinator.
Slovic, 35, began his career as a defensive assistant with the Washington Redskins from 2011-13 before moving to the 49ers as a defensive quality control coach from 2017-18, followed by offensive assistant (2019-2020), special pitching assistant (2021) and pitching coordinator (2022), where he helped improve the play of running back Christian McCaffrey and rookie quarterback Brock Purdy.
According to a report from NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo, the Texans are set to hire Minnesota Vikings assistant quarterbacks coach Jerrod Johnson as their new quarterbacks coach.
