Inter Milan have booked their place in this season’s UEFA Champions League final after coming from 3-3 down to Barcelona in stoppage time and winning 4-3 after extra time in the second leg of their semi-final on Tuesday night.
Sommer was named Man of the Match after making seven saves, including a superb save on Lamine Yamal’s shot four minutes into extra time.
The 36-year-old goalkeeper said after helping Inter win 7-6 on aggregate: “I’m very happy. We played incredibly in this match.”
“Many teams give up after being 2-3 down, but we weren’t like that. We were able to turn things around.”
