New England Patriots defensive coordinator Terrell Williams has been working from home in Detroit for the past few weeks on doctor’s orders and has not been with the team since the start of minicamp Friday, NFL Network reports. ( 123over )
Williams, 50, a former defensive line coach and running game coordinator for the Detroit Lions, was brought in by the Patriots to be their defensive coordinator this offseason under new head coach Mike Vrabel. He did not disclose his illness during a video call with reporters.
“I’m in a state of shock about my health, but I want to make it clear that I’m not in the building, but I’m not away from the team,” Williams said. “I’m doing well. I’m not away from the football team. Hopefully I’ll be back soon and be in the building and close to everybody.”
Outside linebackers coach Zach Kuhr will reportedly oversee the defense until Williams is ready to return.
