Although the ‘Blues’ just defeated Djurgardens 4-1 in the first leg of the Conference League semi-finals yesterday, the matter of the top ranking in the English Premier League to hunt for a ticket to the Champions League next season is still a matter of personal choice. 

So Carragher has urged head coach Enzo Maresca to go all out and not be careless with Liverpool, their opponents this weekend (May 4), even though the visitors have already secured the title, they may not be willing to let it slide. 

“It’s surprising that no one disagrees with the idea that Palmer should be on Liverpool’s radar,” he wrote in a column for The Telegraph Football.

“Is it too far out of reach? Is it too expensive? Most of the above are probably true.” 

“Liverpool would have to pay a fortune to get a player with a long-term, expensive contract with another club. That type of player doesn’t fit into the club’s strategy.” 

“So if you’re going to say – Carragher says Liverpool should buy Palmer – then you’re not reading properly.” 

“But I’m sure there’s a predatory club circling Stamford Bridge, waiting for an opportunity to snatch a bite.” 

123over Palmer’s contract with Chelsea expires in June 2033. In yesterday’s game, he only had 1 assist , making it 19 consecutive clean sheets in all competitions.  ( 123over )
