Mayfield signed a one-year deal with the Buccaneers last offseason. He threw for a career-high 4,044 yards, completing 64.3 percent of his passes, and scored 28 touchdowns as the Pirates went 9-8, won the NFC South, and defeated the Philadelphia Eagles in the Super Wild Card round. He also made his first Pro Bowl appearance and was rewarded with a new deal.
“For us, it’s a matter of timing,” Mayfield told Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times. “Yeah, we want to get the deal done right now, but being on the business side of it a couple of times and being on the bad side of it, you want to make sure you’re taken care of. So for me, yeah, I’m a little concerned, but I’m not worried.”
‘I know that starting over in Tampa in 2023, I know I’ve written enough. I know I’m the real deal, but now I know that other people see it that way too. I’m not worried, but I want to be Tampa. I know the culture, and that’s where I can really be myself.’
Mayfield also said of the season opener against the Washington Commanders on Sept. 8, “Honestly, winning is the most important thing for a quarterback. It doesn’t matter what you do, it doesn’t matter how it plays out. You get it done, but the most important thing is to turn things around from where we were.” ( บุญมีสล็อต )
